Wait, what?! We weren't official before?
Many of our EMBA grads probably don't realize that the Organization of Executive MBAs (OEMBA) at Sac State wasn’t an official alumni chapter. That's right — we've been operating for 15 years as a sort of unofficial club. That's why our branding (colors, logo, etc.) hasn't matched the university's, you can't find us on Sac State's website, and our events have been separate from the university (although we’ve had their help).
All these years, we've been led by volunteers who care deeply about our special MBA and the networking and learning that comes from those with a solid foundation of business experience.
So what's changing?
For one thing, beginning with the 2025–2026 term, EMBA alumni will vote for the top four board positions: president, vice president, secretary/treasurer, and events officer. The other positions — marketing, social media, technology, and members at large, will be chosen at the discretion of the board.
Visually, you're going to see branding that matches the university's: a new logo, university colors and fonts, etc. The EMBA Alumni Chapter will get a listing on the Chapters page and in College of Business emails. And our own, dedicated EMBA emails will be formatted like other university communications.
Operationally, having university marketing and event resources at our disposal is going to be easier for the board. We'll also be able to charge for some events and even have fundraisers.
And what stays the same?
An enthusiastic, dedicated Board who is committed to our mission of connecting, engaging and enriching our EMBA community and enabling lifelong networking, learning, and success. (Read about the new 2024–2025 EMBA Chapter Board.)
